Employers-Labor-Government Jobs Worthy Of Profile Finalization

Jakarta -representative of the Government, employers and trade unions/workers convened to discuss Decent Work Profile (Decent Work Profile) for Indonesia. After a year they gather to discuss Decent Work indicators, the current process has entered a stage of finalization and validation.

Facilitated tripartite meeting of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and supported the European Union was held on Aryaduta Hotel, Central Jakarta, Monday (27/6/2011). The meeting will take place until tomorrow.

Present at the meeting the Secretary of the Industrial Relations and the Director General the Coaching Scheme Kemenakertrans, Iskandar Maulana, Chairman of Apindo Sofjan Wanandi, Chairman of KSPSI Sjukur Sarto, Director of the ILO Jakarta Peter Van Rooij, and heads of delegation of the European Union for Indonesia, Julian Wilson.

Diah Widarti of ILO Jakarta's National Coordinator for the project, said the meeting today will require input from tripartite party for Decent Work indicators that had been discussed last year.

"We asked for input from the draft which had been drawn up," said Diah.

Draft Job Profile Indonesia that successfully produced Viable consists of 10 chapters, ranging from employment, decent working hours, work that must be eliminated, until the question of social security. Parties are invited to get involved through intense tripartite discussions groups discussing each chapter drafts.

Diah says, there is no binding provisions and sanctions in the tripartite agreement about this Decent Job Profile. However, these profiles can be the input of Governments in implementing national development.

As known, since 1999, the ILO continued to encourage decent work is defined as "a work that is productive, fair, safe and dignified". ILO Declaration on social justice for Fair Globalization in 2008 reaffirming the commitment of Member States to encourage decent work based on the four strategic objectives, namely encouraging job creation, developing and improving social protection, encourage dialogue and tripartite cooperation, and respect, encouraging and embodies the principles and fundamental rights at work.
